is there a way to have Excel go to a specified cell(or direction) after you populate a cell and hit enter,
like skip a line going down, or go across? |

For simple direction: ie 1 cell up,down, right or left you can go to Tools - Options - Edit - "move selection after enter" and Use the drop down box to check your choice.
I'm not sure about going down 2 lines..... Lisa |

More specifically, I would to skip lines, or specify a new cell to go to, so the data entry person doesn't have to move around finding the right cells if they're entering a whole lot of data

How about locking the cells you dont want to use and tabbing between the unlocked ones? |

I tried the Tab thing,
but the data is entered down columns, with a formula between each entry X =F(x) Y =F(y) Z =F(z) Thanks, Corticus |

Try highlighting the cells you want the user to be able to fill in by holding down CTRL and clicking on them all. Then right click and go to FORMAT CELLS>PROTECTION and unchecking the Locked box. Now click OK and Protect the sheet
Now when you tab, the only cells you can move to are the unlocked ones [ This Message was edited by: Audiojoe on 2002-05-16 06:31 ] |

I have the cells locked appropriately,
I can tab across the fields, I guess what I want to do is tab down- I know it sounds strange, a lot of our data is entered down columns, and tab goes across |

As others have stated, once you lock the cells and protect the worksheet your tab key will move you down to as many lines as needed........ Denny |
