VLOOKUP alternative

I am looking for a similar formula to VLOOKUP where I have a Product Code in column A, Product Item Number in column B, what i need to do is type in either of these numbers in my field and lookup both A & B and return a Product Description from C... any ideas?

What about using:

=IF(ISNA(MATCH(A2,Sheet2!$A$1:$A$21,0)),VLOOKUP(A2,Sheet2!$B$1:$C$21,2,0),VLOOKUP(A2,Sheet2!$A$1:$C$21,3))

This is the understanding I have of your question.
