Hi.

I wonder if there is a better way for me to write tables on mrexcel.com so that it is clearer what I am asking for.

Would posting data such as:

={"File","Sheet","Range","Value";
1,"Sheet1","A1:A20",59994;2,"Sheet1","A4",437;
1,"Sheet1","A5:A10",1135;1,"Sheet1","B1:B10",5646;
2,"Sheet1","A3",645;1,"Sheet1","B5",23;
2,"Sheet1","B2",253;2,"Sheet1","B1:B10",5646;2,"Sheet1","B3",2;2,"Sheet1","B6",34;
1,"Sheet1","B1:B10",5646}

make any sense to anyone? How would I get this data back on an excel spreadsheet somewhere , so that it is easy to understand?

And how do you use HTML to create tables, is there some webpage somewhere that can help you do one?

Hello Ret79

You van ask Colo to send you the nice file
that converts excel to html , so you can post it on the web.

Send him a PM and I am sure he 'll not deny it.

Nice Helping you

Yes, it makes sense to me. It's much easier than anything else to re-create the data.

How would I get this data back on an excel spreadsheet somewhere , so that it is easy to understand?

What I do is as follows:

Copy this bit.
Activate A1 in a clean worksheet.
Go to the Formula Bar, paste it there, and enter.
Activate A1 and select a large enough area
and hit control+shift+enter at the same
time. Copy the area that is filled up and do
an Edit|Paste Special >Values. Remove
columns and rows with error values.

I get then this to see:

Microsoft Excel - Book1______________Running: xl2000 : OS = Windows (32-bit) NT 5.00
(F)ile (E)dit (V)iew (I)nsert (O)ptions (T)ools (D)ata (W)indow (H)elp
A15=

ABCD
1FileSheetRangeValue
21Sheet1A1:A2059994
32Sheet1A4437
41Sheet1A5:A101135
51Sheet1B1:B105646
62Sheet1A3645
71Sheet1B523
82Sheet1B2253
92Sheet1B1:B105646
102Sheet1B32
112Sheet1B634
121Sheet1B1:B105646
Sheet1

To see the formula in the cells just click on the cells hyperlink

If you want this code, click here and Colo will email the file to you.

PS. Edit your own post regarding the data by entering an enter after each ";" just I have done. That will make my post also better readable

Actually, I have just downloaded the ASAP utilities (which I highly recommend) which has a convert Excel to HTML feature on it, so in future you may see some nice tables coming from me

I saw your testing. I just pasted the data into a worksheet. It appears not to produce extraneous chars around the cell values. However, it creates on the board a huge empty space, which is a disadvantage.

RET, will you please edit the data in your original post regarding ={...}? Just enter an ENTER after each ";".

Yes, this is a shame, but have managed to reduce the empty space though it still exists. Not sure what you mean by extraneous characters though???

Web pages have often extra spaces and (I believe) char 160 around values. When I paste your testing from the other forum, all of the cells get a colored background, but no extra spaces etc. as it is the case when you copy and paste data from stock pages for example.

Thanks for editing. The thread looks much better now.
