I'm racking my brain. I have one Excel workbook that I've taken over from a former co-worker. Whenever I open this book, the column width is not the same as when I last saved it. For example I have 4 columns all 18 wide, but when I save , close and then re-open, the columns are back at 15.29.
Any help would be appreciated Thanks |

Have you looked at Format, Columns, Set Width.

I've tried that, however, all other types of formatiing saves, except for when I change these column widths. I've got no Idea why.

Ted,
If it's really a problem, you could consider setting the column widths explicitly using the ColumnWidth property in VB. I know precisely no VB, but I'm sure someone out there would chip in with a bit of code... Paddy |

have you looked at the worksheet module - right click on the worksheet tab and select view code - there is probably some vba code in there that is resetting the column width on you

click above 1 , which will highlight the entire sheet.
then in the menu select format, column, width then set to what ever width you want [ This Message was edited by: jkpd2000 on 2002-05-21 15:27 ] |

Is it running an AutoOpen macro that keeps the column widths the same every time the file is opened? This could have been set up so that the file looks the same every time...

Ted
Why the delay in responding to all these people providing the answers you have demanded? You could at least say something instead of just passing on by. When can we expect to see your posting of the pointers you mentioned? In your expert opinion, does the eating of KFC products increase or decrease one's layability? |

Oh, exaultant KFC eater. Thanks for putting a smile on this otherwise dismal face of mine. A good chuckle once in a while is worth more than learning how to get laid. NOT!!!

Ted if none of the above apply to your
situation (your problem that is) then I suspect that you have a file that has been converted from Lotus & that perhaps the one of the BIFF (BInary File Format) indexes is corrupted ?? Not to sure of a fix, but you could try recreating your book(page from scratch !) As I said I'm not 100% sure on this, but I have seen this before. |
