I would appreciate anyone's opinion about whether I need to re-write my previous question. I'm afraid it may not be clear.
It is dated 2002-05-20 16:13 "Fill in invoice..." by SteveC Thank you for your advice |

Though I don't know enough to give an educated opinion, thought I'd paste Steve's code here to make it easier for others to see and help. Here it is:
I am using Office XP. I have created an Excel spreadsheet template (my "LOG") which is used to input and calculate expenses and other data for each horse. The cell structure is protected and allows input into specific cells only. The name of each LOG becomes the name of that horse. I also created a monthly invoice template in Excel (completely custom form) which is in C:\My Documents\Horses\Templates\Invoice Template( ).xls. [FYI The parenthesis after "...Template" will contain a version #.] Each customer will have their own folder. That folder will contain a separate LOG for each horse they own. PROBLEM: How do I get my "Create Invoice" button in the LOG to cause a copy of my invoice template to be put in the same folder as that horse's LOG. 2nd PROBLEM: How to have it automatically copy the necessary data for that month from that horse's LOG to the invoice. LOG: There are 9 identical lines for each month and each month has its own "Create Invoice" button. The only VBA I know is what help I've been given in the creation of my LOG. Thank you for any help you can give me. SteveC Good luck Steve! Chookers |

You can use the link below to view the previous question and see if there are any updates.
http://www.mrexcel.com/board/viewtop...c=8922&forum=2 The whole question is a bit too complex for me to grab hold of right now. Probably need to sit down and map it out. Wish I could spare the time, sounds like the solution would be useful. ---> Since there have been zero replies I would add a comment to the original questions with the details of what you have discovered so far. It will bump it up to the top and show others that you are actively involved. Bumping the question to the top gets it more visibility. ---> May also consider asking only about what has you stuck. Break the big question down into parts. That way different people with different skill sets may be able to help as they get time. Also, it keeps the complexity lower. Easier to grasp the question in the first read. Philip |

Thank you for your excellent suggestions Philip. I'll break the problem down.
You and the other people perform a great service here. Thanks. Steve |
