sorting

Hello people
I am trying to sort a database with the following formate
color weight class freq
22 33 A 3
B 4
C 5
color weight class freq
33 33 D 3
c 4
F 3
Does excel can sort the number plus format
I tried the data sort function, but the result is a disaster(the formate are totally changed)
please help

Could anyone please help me out?
Does excel have the sort function to sort the data and also keep the corresponding data in the original format? If excel can't do this, are there any softwares(access?) capable of doing this kind of sorting?
Please HELP!!!
