How do you break an axis so that instead of showing all values from 1-1000 you show data from 1-200 and then 800-1000 with the centre portion not displayed?

Hi Damo
Excel only plots data that is in 'visible' cells within the source data range. Therefore, hiding the entire rows or columns containing the source data entries that you do not want to display should remove them from the graph. This may not work with all chart types, but the bar and line charts variants should work OK. The format of the 'axis lables' is also a factor. With text and numeric labels it should work OK but dates / times will cause problems. If you need to then you can get around this by converting the date / time entries to text. Cheers Jaykay |

Check Tushar Mehta's website for an example of this. In the tutorials section, there is one titled, "Broken y-axis" which you may be able to modify to your needs.

Why apologize? No need, as your answer was relevant. There is no guarantee that Tushar's example will work without some trial and error. All we did was give the OP some hints/information. Damo will come back with any subsequent questions. Bye, Jay |
