excel security

Hello People
I am wondering does the excel have a security feature. So it allows certain people to have the right to modify the data, and the other people can only have read - only right.
If not, is there a way to create that kind of security feature

Tools-Protection, Protect Worksheet gives you the ability to password-protect sheet.

To add the feature to an already existing workbook, click save as and then choose Tools>General Options on Excel 2000

On Excel 97 it's under Options after you have pressed Save As.

Choose different passwords for modify and Open.

do you mean restrict the security levels to certain people.... ie have excel know who is who trying to use the file ?
