Sorting in a Pivot Table

I am attempting (although it is not working) to sort in a pivot table . In this table, I have 2 yrs of info, sorted in rows by physician. I have 2 standard columns of data and then one calculated column. using the calculated columns, I want to take the difference between the two years to sort in descending order - this will determine what physicians changed the most from one year to the next. Can anyone help me??? Thanks.

You should just be able to create your calculated field, place your cursor on one number under the calculated field and click the sort button (z --> a) Is that what you already tried? It works for me

That method works, but I have a drop down filter by hospital and by just hitting the sort button, it only sorts the current hospital we ae looking at. If I was showing this data in a meeting, I would like a way where it automatically sorts each time I change a hospital... Does that make sense??

in order to sort the physicians (asc or desc)
go to the pivot table , select the physician
field, then go menu-data-sort and in the sort by cell click on the cell under the difference either desc or asc order with values checked and click ok.
that should do it , try it and post back if it works.

For the sake of clarity it should be stated that the Difference formula, ='2001'-'2000', would be a Calculated Item rather than a Calculated Field.
