How to post on the MrExcel Message Board
Step 1: Register. You need to be a registered member to post a question. Registration is free. Per our Privacy Policy, I am not going to sell your name or e-mail address to anyone. I have been threatening to write a book for four years. Now that the book is going to be out soon, I *am* going to Spam you to tell you that the book is finally completed. Your level of Spam from registering here will increase by 1 or 2 messages a year.
We used to allow anonymous posting. It became confusing, though, with all of the posts from "anonymous". It is a lot easier to go back and find a question from "Mary in Chicago" than to sort through hundreds of questions all from "anonymous". We also had the famous thread where two different "anonymous" posters were posting in the same thread and it was impossible to follow.
Go to http://www.mrexcel.com/forum/index.php.
In the ‘Welcome to the MrExcel Message Board.” box, click on the link to register.

Enter you date of birth and click proceed. Note: “It is really important that you put a valid year, or at least a year that shows you are over 13. If you put in 2005 as the birth year, then the forum is going to hassle you to print out a COPPA release, get a parent to sign it, and fax it in. At that point, your fax gets lost in the jumble of faxes by the coffee machine, where it will wait and wait and wait. Provided that you are really over 13, I don’t want you tracking down your Mom (who now lives 1800 miles away) so she can give permission for her 44 year-old son to get Excel help. Put the correct year, and we won’t have to hassle you over this.”

After you have read the Message Board Rules, check the box, and click register.

Enter a User Name, Password, valid email address, and the Image Verification letters or digits.

Review the Additional Information box and select your preferences. Then click the Complete Registration button.

A message shows “Thank you for registering” and that an email will be sent to the email address you provided. The message also states: You MUST follow the link in that email before you can post on these forums. Until you do that, you will be told that you do not have permission to post.
Check your inbox (and possibly the spam or junk folders). Open the email and follow the link to the message board.
You will then see “Thank you for registering.”
You may fill out optional information sections and click save.
Step 1.5: As Chip P. will tell you, it is a much better experience here if you have cookies enabled. I have cookies enabled - I signed in once and I do not have to sign in again for a year. If you don't have cookies enabled, there is a ridiculously short amount of time before your sign-in expires and you have to sign in again. This can lead to frustration when you take 45 minutes to compose a post, only to find out it is rejected because you were signed out. Enable cookies, and this will not happen to you.

Step 2: Click on the Excel Questions hyperlink.

Step 3: Click the "New Thread" image. This image is in the upper left corner of the screen.

Step 4: Type a useful subject, and your question. If you want to be notified by mail when replies are posted, check the final check box above the Submit button. Hit Submit.
With any luck, the MrExcel community will jump into action and one of our friendly members will post a reply with an answer or a request for a clarification from you. Check back frequently and provide any clarifications needed. You should be on your way to having your Excel problem solved.
