Drop Down Box Arrow Options

Posted by Rick on March 26, 2001 7:16 PM

I now have a drop down box in Excel with the correct
data but unless I am actually in the cell, I cannot see
the drop down arrow. Could someone tell me how to make
it so the box permanantly shows the drop down arrow?

Thanks very much in advance!!

Hi Rick

Unfortunately it can't be done with a Validation list, you would have to use a ComboBox from either the "Forms" or "Control Toolbox" toolbar. Preferably the latter!

Thanks Dave! I do have a question though...I was
able to get an arrow or button in my box using
the control toolbox but it just sits there, even
over my text. How do I get it to actually drop
down with my text?

Thanks in advance!!

Hi Rick

While in "Design Mode" (little picture of triangle and pencil on control toolbar) right click on the Combobox and select "Properties". Then put: B1 in the "Linked Cell" and: A1:A10 in the "ListFillRange". This will fill your Combobox with entries that are in A1:A10 and place your selected entry in Cell B1.
