removing asterick

I have numberous rows of different numbers that are six digits followed by an asterick. I want to remove all astericks from the end of the six digit numbers.

Example 444555* to 444555
565123* to 565123

When we use the find and replace it deletes the entire cell.

Thanks

Find ~* and replace with nothing. Asterisk is a wildcard. the tilde (~) indicates an override -- makes the asterisk an asterisk.

Select the column range of interest.
Activate Data|Text to Columns.
Specify as delimiter *.
