Restricting possible values entered in cells

Hi (again),
I'd like to limit the possible values that a user can enter into a cell (or a whole range of cells).
I only wish to allow the numbers 1,2,3 or 4. If they enter anything else they need to be prompted to enter an acceptable value.
Can this be done?
Can each cell have some kind of drop-down menu that allows a choice from only the numbers I want? (Like a drop-down menu you get on web pages, questionnaires etc.)

Many thanks in advance.

Yes, this can be done using Data Validation. See Excel's help to use this function. If you need any help, just let me know via this board.
