would it be possible for a spreadsheet to be linked to a clander in windows, so that when a spreadsheet is opened the date goes into a cell. also could i be able to forecast dates automatically, e.g. date of completion of car repair so the cell containg the date would be 3 days from the current date.
any help would be apreciated.

Try use "=TODAY()"
If you want to calculate how many days left: First you define i.e in cell A1=2/6/02 en in cell A2= A1-today()
it'll give you the result = 1
