Unable to Open File

Help! I've got that annoying "Excel has caused an error in Excel.exe. Excel will now close. If you continue to experience problems try restarting your computer." error.

I've tried opening the file without activating the macros, but it won't let me.

Any suggestions for salvaging as much as possible of my work?

Thanks

Does it happen as soon as you open the file? Did you try making a copy of it?

-- Alas, a copy also fails in the same way. Actually, I get the error message during the open procedure. On my Win '95 machine it gives a slightly different error message and says it's an "invalid page fault" -- Does that help?

for the suggestion - but it didn't work... Any others? :
