decimal places

Is there a way to change the actual decimal placement in a cell. I don't mean adding or taking away a decimal with zeros. I mean actually converting a number, ie, 8.1 to .081.

If in an empty cell you type 0.01 then copy that cell. Next, highlight the cells whose values you want changing click Edit, Paste Special and select the Multiply check box.

8.1

I'm trying to find out how to move the decimal two places for the above examples. Is there a way to do that? THANKS!
