formatting cells

Hello I am having a problem with excel in when you go to the format cells box under number and pick number or currency it should list 4 ways to show the negative data on your worksheet. A black number with a negative sign, a red number, or a black number in prentices, or a red number in prentices. For some reason my excel doesn't give me the prentices options, I've tried removing office and then reinstalling it yet nothing seems to work. Has anyone else had this problem before? Help
