FRACTIONS

How do I get fractions in excel office 97 to keep from reducing to a simple fraction while retaining a numeric value; ie., 3/12 comes up 1/4. I am doing graphs whereby it converts to decimal and plots on a percentage scale just fine, however, I'd like to click on "show values" without it automatically reducing the fraction. This is used for hospital nursing data, therefore, I need the raw data to stay as entered.

Did you try using this format:

# ??/12

Hi Mark, thanks for your response....that format is for a common denominator of 12, I need variable fractions to remain as entered without reducing to simplest term; i.e., 3/12 (not 1/4),
200/400 (not 1/2), etc. Any ideas, besides typing in a text box in the formula bar and dragging it down to display the original fracture I entered?
