Combine columns??

Is there an easy way to combine the values of two columns into one column? For example if cell A1 contained "12345" and cell B1 had "6789", I need a function or macro that will make cell A1 equal "1234556789". I realize that I could simply cut and paste the data, but I am dealing with spreadsheets that have hundreds of rows that need the same function.

Sorry.. my final result should be "123456789", I typed the extra 5 in there by accident.

Use concatenate, the formula being
=A1&B1

If you need the value, select the formula data, copy, and then PasteSpecial Values.

TYPE =A1&B1 IN CELL C1 AND DRAG IT DOWN AS FAR AS YOU NEED.
