not returning the correct answer

Hi group,

I have 3' 1/2" in cell C6, 6' 1/2" in cell E6 and $1.00
in F6. My formula is =Sum(C6*E6)*F6, this returns
$22.75. What am i doing wrong?

Thanks,
Jim

Your formula is apparently doing this: 3.5*6.5*1. How are you entering the lengths in cells C6 and E6? Exactly like you typed it in your post? What are you trying to accomplish with your formula?

Jim,

Have you tried using inches in your formula instead of Feet/inches
48x72x1 etc.... then divide the result to give the correct price
is it $27.3

Not quite sure what your after

wouldn't that be 36.5*72.5?

22.75 is the result of 3.5' times 6.5'
Presumably you are looking for the result of 3 1/24 feet times 6 1/24 feet (i.e. 18.38 )
