Cannot open excel workbooks in browser

I can't open excel workbooks in my browser! I have NT SP5, Office97 SR1, IE5... Has anyone ever seen this???

If you can open only from Excel do that: go to options of your folder, then remove the file types "Microsoft Excel Worksheet" and then add new type for the extentions .xls...
