Charts and custom style formats

I am trying to chart values vs. time blocks. I.e., I have a column
of time ranges: hh:mm:ss-hh:mm:ss, e.g. 16:22:31-16:37:31).

I have figured out how to modify cell format to accept this style
(Format->Style-> then I create a new style with appropriate format
as detailed above). However, when I create a chart, and format the
axis values with the same format, it gives me 00:00:00-00:00:00 for
all the values on the axis.

Any ideas? By the way, I'm using Excel 97.

Ah - thanks for the clue! It was the X-axis, and I was using
default values for min-max. I guess the Scatter plot needs
an integer or real number. Tried going to Bar chart or a normal
Line chart, and it seemed to handle it fine. Would prefer to use
the Scatter plot, but the others will do as a workaround. Thanks.
