Combining Cells to create filename link

How can I create a link in a workbook that combines information from cells (filename, sheetname, cell location etc) in that workbook that point to another workbook that is closed. The INDIRECT function goes some of the way to doing this but will only return a value when the workbook that I am linked to is open. Can it be done?

Unfortunately Andy, both the INDIRECT and CELL functions require the Workbook to be open.
Have you looked at Hyperlinks ?
