Excel 97

When I open some of my Excel 97 spreadsheet, the columns are compressed. Everything is fine when I close the spreadsheet. It seems to occur randomly to several of my spreadsheets and happens quite frequently.

I had the same problem, and I think it's a bug with excel. Were they Lotus 1-2-3 files at one point? That's where I ran into the problem.

No. The files were created on either Excel 95 or Excel 97. I am opening the files through Explorer, do you think that could be causing the problem?
