Excel - opening 2 files - Try again

Hi Everyone

I am at my wits end. I have made a copy of 1 excel (B) file and placed it on another drive. There is an Auto Open macro in each. On someone's suggestion, I remove the Application etc line to just read the name of the sub that I am calling. eg Max_Prepare. in both files. (A & B)

All the macros in the copy file (B) I have renamed and I have 2 custom toolbars (diffent names).

When I open the copy (B) it is fine and does not open the orginal (A) but as soon as I click on the custom toolbar in file (A) - it opens the file (B).

I am about to delete the whole thing and give up so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Tee

Hello Tee,

I sounds like you may have forgotten to change workbook B's custom toolbar button macro assignment to point the the macro in workbook B, so it is still pointing to workbook A and therefore has to open it in order to run the macro. I suggest checking on its macro assignment by going into View -> Toolbars -> Customize, right-clicking on the problem button, and selecting Assign Macro...

Good luck.
