GOAL SEEKING

I HAVE BEEN TOLD OF A METHOD TO HELP WITH CALCULATIONG CALLED GOAL SEEKING, WHAT IS IT AND HOW DO I US IT..
THE EXCEL HELP IS OF NO HELP....

Say you have a formula a1*a2 and the answer is put in a3.

If you want a3 to equal a specific number and the only variable you want to change is that in a2 you can use goal seek to calculate how many of a2 you need to equal your desired goal.

You use this by going to the tools menu then goal seek.

A dialog box will pop up asking the following:

set cell = this should be your answer cell (a3)

to value = what is your goal (eg you want a3 to equal 200)

by changing cell = in this case a2 (the cell you want excel to change the value of).
