Password Protected Corrupt File

Posted by Dave Chard on January 05, 2001 7:03 AM

How can I recover a corrupt Excel 97 file which is password protected? I know the password.

All of the utilities I have found will repair files with no password, or crack the password if it's not known but there doesn't seem to be a program that meets my requirements

Can you help??

I found several spreadsheet recovery programs on the net, but the one that caught my eye was ExcelFix, unfortunately, it looks like that one doesn't work on password protected files. The next one is Excel Recovery 2000 at www.passwordservice.com/excel. I haven't tried either of these so I can't tell you how well they work. The good news is the both of these programs come in a demo version. The bad news it that neither of these seem to recover VBA code! So I hope you don't need this feature.

Good luck to you,
