Patent on an Excel file.

Can I put a patent on an Excel file that I create? Also, can an Excel file be sold?

Yes I sell many custom applications a year

If you search patents it will take you a long time I have mailed myself a certified letter contain information about an idea or invention for protection. Don't open the letter!
