show a "1" as a check

Hi group,

Is it possilble to show a "1" as a check, if not what
would be the next best symbol.

Jim,
Why use a "1"? Just put a checkmark in the cell. It's character number 252 in the Wingdings font. First, format the cell as Wingdings font. Then hold down the ALT key and type 0252 on the numeric keypad. (Yes, you need the leading zero and you have to do it on the numeric keypad). The resulting checkmark will be little small, so increase the font size to 14, then center the checkmark in the cell. Save the formatted checkmark somewhere handy, and the next time you want one you can just do a copy-and-paste.
