Finding a dead link

Posted by Bill Tanner on March 26, 2000 11:28 AM

Everytime I open a file I get the usual message about updating a link. Problem is, I don't have any links. Or at least I don't think I do.

I have used the find command to search the various elements of a link -- the file name, parts of the file name, the ".xls" file extension and the open or close brackets, for example but I can find nothing.

Any suggestions? I'm running Windows 98 2nd edition and Office Pro 2000 and have heard that the new Office has some help with that but I can't find it there either.

Anybody?
