Hi,

I have a spreadsheet where we run a macro to checks data on 40 other spreadsheets to ensure the GL balances equals zero at the end of each day.

However when we try to run the macro we keep getting the following message:

Error: Could not complete the update
1004 Application-defined or object-defined error.

Could anyone please tell me what this means and how we can fix this, keeping in mind the person who created this spreadsheet is no longer available and we who are left are not excel experts.

Thanks
Shari.

When it happens, press the Debug button that will appear. You should be shown a sheet of code with one line highlighted.

Copy/Paste that line and a dozen'ish before it and post again. The error you got is fairly common and more data is needed to figure out what is wrong.

Is there a way of doing the debug separately to get the data you need.

thanks

If the macro code behind the sheet is password protected you won't get the debug button, you have to unlock the macro code then run it again
