I've inherited a large timesheet in which hours greater than 99 need to be displayed. when i tried changing the cell format from hh:mm to d\d hh:mm and entered 7:15 in, the displayed results would read 1d 7:15. rather than the correct answer of 0d 7:15. I found that by turning the 1904 date system off the format worked. Only now negative hours, which are valid in the timesheet can't be seen. Can I get the format and the negative hours to both work ?

Excel Facts

Format cells as date
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+3 to format cells as date. (Shift 3 is the # sign which sort of looks like a small calendar).
h:mm as stated above in my original post excel will not display hours greater than 99 which i need. So h:mm won't work,

If i change the format to d\d h:mm ( a custom format) which can display days it will only work but only if i set the year date option in excel to 1900. At which point i can't display negative numbers.

Do you have a custom format that can display time greater than 99 hours and also alows you to see negative time.
