Hi Experts,

I need to apply the formula as follows :

3 Cell A1
5 Cell A2
7 Cell A3

The formula required in A5 - If A3 is blank then 2 else 3, if A2 is blank then 1 else 2.

Note - A1 can not be blank always showing the number, whereas A3 can not show the figure if A2 is blank.

Excel Facts

Shade all formula cells
To shade all formula cells: Home, Find & Select, Formulas to select all formulas. Then apply a light fill color.
Is this what you mean
Excel Formula:
=IF(A3<>"",A3,IF(A2<>"",A2,A1))

Solution
Hi Fluff

Many thanks, I think I have communicated my question correctly, however, your given formula is working with little change as follows :

=IF(A3<>"","3",IF(A2<>"","2","1"))
Regards
