I'm working in a excel database and one of my columns isn't adding up...instead of get th 5.68434E-14. I've double-checked the format of the cells, format painted from columns that work properly and even re-created the list in another sheet and either inserted a column or pasted over the original data. None of it seems to work and its screwing up a pivot table. Any suggestions?....Thanks in advance for your help.

I assume you're expecting a sum of zero? You effectively have that within the limits of Excel (it's a very small number) and the limitation imposed by binary representations of decimal numbers.

You may need to consider either explicitly rounding your figures or (potentially dangerous option) using Precision As Displayed option in Tools>Options.

Just as I was taking your suggestion to the bossman, he came to my office to say he went to the pivot table and right-clicked the cell, format cells, and selected the number format and it worked. Its definitely Friday. Thanks for your help, and I'll keep that in mind if it ever comes up again.
