I have to type names in a random order all of the time. It would be nice that I have a column with all names that could be used to help auto complete the name in a cell. Each of the seven columns never has the same name in it on a given week.

Excel Facts

Can you AutoAverage in Excel?
There is a drop-down next to the AutoSum symbol. Open the drop-down to choose AVERAGE, COUNT, MAX, or MIN
Could you not use the column with all the names as the source for a Data Validation list? Then you could simply choose the relevant name from the drop-down list.
If the list is large then you could consider this option.

I have over 75 names - makes for a long list.

We didn't know that to start with, but that possibility is why I included a work-around that includes autocomplete. ;)

The option linked does not work on a Mac though but it does provide further options if it must work on your Mac as well as Windows.

You could make each item into its own User Defined Function. For Example:

VBA Code:
Function David()
David = "David"
End Function
