Hi All,

Just a really simple question, for an answer that i do not get...

1 2
A 1,234

B 17.81

Basically there is what i have, A1 = 1,234 as a number, and B1 as a number 17.81

If on a calculator i do the math 1,234 - 17.81 % i get the number 1,014.2246

Ok how can i do this in Excel ?!?! Ok well .. i do A1 - B1% =SUM(A1-B1%) and i get 1234.00795 ?!?

How do i make it acheive the calculator number of 1,014.2246 which is the number i need.... is it my forumla? my calculator? or my brain at this time in a morning?!?!

Thanks!

Love Nec ! x

Yey 100'th Post !!

### Excel Facts

Ambidextrous Undo
Undo last command with Ctrl+Z or Alt+Backspace. If you use the Undo icon in the QAT, open the drop-down arrow to undo up to 100 steps.

Try

=A1*(1-B1/100)

You could also format the percentagecell first. like when you type 17.81 add the percent sign at that point, 17.81% then just multiply the boxes together. If you don't do it this way or with a formula like Yogs then Excel sees 1 as equaling 100% so 17.81 would actually be read as 1700.81

hope that makes sense
