Hi Everybody,

I have many financial transactions that have dates and corresponding codes (that group many transactions together, eg office expenses).

I want to be able to group each month/quarter/year of transactions together within these codes.

I have tried at the query level to use "mmm" to format the dates as months. It does so but seems to assume the underlying date (eg 1/1/13, 12/1/13, etc) and not being grouped on months. I can do this at the report level but when I export the report to Excel (07) it takes a bit of time to undo all the formatting.

My ultimate aim is to be able to export this data into Excel (07) where I do my budgetting (mainly) on a monthly basis.

I am starting to play with cross tab queries but am not confident with what I am doing. ny help would be appreciated.

thanks
