I'm working on a spreadsheet that will track upwards of 50 different departments in my organization and their compliance with several different standards. If I were to abbreviate a department in the cell, labeling it "QM" for Quality Managment, is there a way to have just "QM" displayed unless you roll your mouse over the cell, then the unabbreviated name (Quality Management) is shown? I realize I could just make this a comment, but is there a quicker, maybe even an automatic way to do this?

Excel Facts

Shade all formula cells
To shade all formula cells: Home, Find & Select, Formulas to select all formulas. Then apply a light fill color.
Welcome to the Board!

You could use Data-->Validation-->Input Message.

It's like a comment and pops up when you activate a cell.

Hope that helps,

Hi,

You could experiment with "hyperlink".
rightclick
choose hyperlink
write short text
click "screeninfo" (or something like that)
write long test
address: type the address of the cell itself

possibly change the look of your hyperlinks

kind regards,
Erik
