Absolute References with Linked workbooks

hi there
when i am linking workbooks excel is automatically making the linked cell with an absolute reference (i.e. $A$4)
i do not want it to do this - how do i turn it off please?

Thanks Jason. for some reason it is making them absolute by default and i was just looking for a way that it does not do that (if there is a way)

Unfortunately there is currently no way to change the default for this (the same annoyance applies to named ranges and conditional formatting formulas if you click cells instead of typing the references).
