I am linking a file to access so that I can use SQL to pull into another Excel File. I was hoping this would be quicker than person who was doing a massixe amount of Vlookups.
Is there a way I can Index (Speed up) the link or can this only be done with a access file not a link?

Excel Facts

Create a chart in one keystroke
Select the data and press Alt+F1 to insert a default chart. You can change the default chart to any chart type
As far as I can determine, it is not possible to index a linked Excel file, so I guess that's not an option.

Why do you need to link the Excel file to Access to use SQL?

Have you considered using ADO to get the data directly from the Excel file?

I was going to pull some other info that I already had in access. And more importantly just rtrying to build a tool that person can use to reallly basically do vlookups but the darn files are so big that I thought it might be easier.

Don't know if it matters but having the other file open - if its a completely different workbook that's the lookup source - helps. Lookups on closed workbooks with thousands of rows can be slow.
