Hi
Can anyone help? I had to reformat a firend's laptop the other day and we backed up an Access DB file to a memory stick. On trying to open the file again it (and this happens on any of 3 pc's I have tried) each pc starts with a Security Warning "Certain content in the database ahs been disabled". There is an options tab next to this and when I click it I get a MS Security Alert - VBA Macro

I click enable this content and then nothing....!

Can anyone help please?

Thanks

How can you automate Excel?
Press Alt+F11 from Windows Excel to open the Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) editor.
Some ideas:
  • Try copying the database to a trusted location rather than opening it from the memory stick.
  • Fiddle with your macro security settings (I found some screenshots on how to do this here.
  • A common recovery tip is to create a new database and import all your tables, queries etc. into.
  • I should leave the copy you have now alone and work on a copy of it - just in case you need to go to a recovery specialist.
  • You didn't say anything about what version of Access (or Windows) you are using. Security has changed a lot in recent version of Access.
  • There's normally no issue with putting a database on a memory stick, btw. I do it all the time (I normally use Access 2003 on XP).

You've probably already tried it, but when clicking on enable content, it usually asks to restart the program to enable.
Then after that, Trusted Locations and subfolders?

xenou and Marbles. Thank you so much for your suggestions. I believe it has been successful. I will know for sure when I show the person who created it and they confirm all the tables and entries are there.

Thanks so much!
