I have a data which is fed from SQL to Access and then I am creating reporting tables in excel. How can I protect Access data nevertheless allows the users to update the data.

Can you AutoAverage in Excel?
There is a drop-down next to the AutoSum symbol. Open the drop-down to choose AVERAGE, COUNT, MAX, or MIN
just wanted to add: i want to say that excel reporting tables are updated what ever user is using.

What kind of updates?
Updating data involves access to the data and ability to make changes, so it cannot be completely safe.
