Hi,

This is probably a stupid question, but can you open an exe file created by an excel add-in without using needing excel?

Excel Facts

How can you automate Excel?
Press Alt+F11 from Windows Excel to open the Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) editor.
It depends on what commands have been put into the file. By definition an exe file can be executed from Windows. It should only contain commands that can be executed by Windows. But if other non executable commands have been imbedded into the file then no. Simply placing an exe extension onto the file doesn't necessarily make it executable.

Interesting, so what's an example of an excel file that can be executed by windows? and what's an example of an excel file that has a non executable command?
