hiya
I have a date in one column, and then number of days to add on to this in another column. I want to add the two together and come up with anew date (ie the first date, add the number of days in the second column). BUt I dont want to include weekends. how do I tell it to only consider working days ?

thanks

Paula

Excel Can Read to You
Customize Quick Access Toolbar. From All Commands, add Speak Cells or Speak Cells on Enter to QAT. Select cells. Press Speak Cells.
Search this forum on the useage of NETWORKDAYS.
That counts only workdays and excludes weekends and holidays.

=NETWORKDAYS(A1,B1)

Where A1 is the first date and B1 is the second date.

Note: NETWORKDAYS requires the analysis toolpak.

Edit: took out an extra ")".

How to install the Analysis ToolPak Add_In:

Click the Tools dropdown menu.
Choose Add-ins... from the menu.
In the Add-ins dialog box, select the check box for Analysis ToolPak
Click OK to close the Dialog box.

You'd actually want the WORKDAY function, also available with Analysis ToolPak, I believe

=WORKDAY(A1,B1)

where A1 contains your start date and B1 the number of working days you wish to add
