Hi folks.

For my sins I maintain a large number of excel workbooks, several of which are shared. These shared workbooks were written using (I think) excel 97 and have some msqueries in them, which run fine each time the workbook is opened. I now need to add another query, but excel 2007 (my current one) will only allow the new query to be created as a table, which is not allowed in a shared workbook.

Does anyone know how I can create a query that is not a table in excel 2007?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Use =VLOOKUP("Apple*" to find apple, Apple, or applesauce
Thanks for the suggestion, but it still wants to become a table. I have found a work-round for myself - your suggestion put me on the track - I copied one of the existing non-table queries into a new worksheet, then edited the defintion properties to use the connection string and command text that I needed. Lo and behold, it worked!
