I need to keep a running inventory of pounds of rubber on hand, but want to do it in the same column. Is there a formula to total a range of cells, using both adding and subtracting. In other words can a cell contain a formula that will either add or subtract based on whether a plus or minus sign is used with the number, and the range of those cells automatically updates a cell at the top of the page with the total. Thank you.

How to total the visible cells?
From the first blank cell below a filtered data set, press Alt+=. Instead of SUM, you will get SUBTOTAL(9,)
Welcome to the forum.

Not sure I follow what you mean, can you post a sample of data and expected results.
