I have 4 columns of information. At the row above column A is an identifying Name for that section of the spreadsheet. After every 100 or so rows there is a new identifying Name in column A. I want to insert that identifying number in a new column to the right of column A and have the number change everytime a new identifying Name appears in column A, so that I can sort by the part number
Example:

Salesclerk 1 = Identifying Number
Column A has part numbers for items sold
Column B is where I want to put Salesclerk 1 in each row until Salesclerk 2's sales start
Column C has the number of sales made of the part number that is listed in Column A.

Salesclerk 1
pn23456 32
pn49857 35
pn67899 46

Salesclerk 2
pn23456 37
pn49857 32
pn67899 41

Lock one reference in a formula
Need 1 part of a formula to always point to the same range? use $ signs: $V$2:$Z$99 will always point to V2:Z99, even after copying
Hi Barbara:

You Are Welcome -- and let us know if you need to simplify the formula or if you need to discuss any thing further on this!
