Ado

It was suggested to me that I try using ADO to grab values from a range in a closed workbook. I have no idea how to start with this. I've visited a site with some tutorials, except they're not straightforward enough directions for me to follow (I don't even understand what advanced data options are, exactly).

Can anyone give me a hand working up a simple ADO query that I might be able to adapt to my needs? I have some code that I'm using already with my workbook, I can post that if you want to see it. The only problem is that it's too slow, because it obtains the values one cell at a time.

How to calculate loan payments in Excel?
Use the PMT function: =PMT(5%/12,60,-25000) is for a $25,000 loan, 5% annual interest, 60 month loan.
ADO stands for ActiveX Data Objects, lots of info on the web such as here:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/257819

But you can easily extract data from closed workbooks with paste link formulas too, so before you dive feet-first into ADO, consider easier approaches that might do what you want.
