I'm trying to filter a list of data using the advanced function and can not figure out how to get the output I'm after !!

My list contains names, courses taken and expenses relating to the course i.e.

smith ATT £10
jones AAT £5
jones ATT £6
jones ATT £7
baker ACC £8

I'm looking to filter this list to show unique surnames for a selected course. So with the above example if I wanted to view all the ATT course participants I only want to see :

smith ATT
jones ATT

at the moment I'm getting duplicates (in this case jones) because there are several lines and I can't figure out how to set up the advance filter !

Hope that makes sense

Excel Facts

Links? Where??
If Excel says you have links but you can't find them, go to Formulas, Name Manager. Look for old links to dead workbooks & delete.
Use an advanced filter with a criteria range and the Unique records option, but only include the first two columns in the filter.

Awesome. Thank you. I was working on a far bigger range of data and hadn't taken that into account
