Hi guys

I have a worksheet full of data where, when the sheet is protected, the 'Find' function (Ctrl F) will not work. When it is unprotected it it fine.

Any idea how I can keep the sheet protected but allow the 'Find' function to work?

Thank you in advance

Is there a shortcut key for strikethrough?
Ctrl+S is used for Save. Ctrl+5 is used for Strikethrough. Why Ctrl+5? When you use hashmarks to count |||| is 4, strike through to mean 5.
Protect the sheet with the option to allow users to select locked cells.

Ahh..I thought this was sort but unfortunately it isn't.

Just went to change that on the sheet but it was already set to that.

When I try and search for something (that I know 100% is there) it says....Microsoft Office Excel cannot fund the data you're searching for.

Any other ideas guys?

Is that 100% to three significant digits, or absolute certainty? :)

Try searching for something trivially there.

Ha ha! I was searching for the word 'charity' which it finds when the sheet is unprotected but not protected...

The sheet has almost 600 rows, do you think this has anything to do with it?

Thanks for your help.

And you did indeed allow selection of locked cells? I had no difficulty with this.

No.

What version of Excel are you using?

This is what you need to do in order to use xtrl+f to work at protected sheets:

- Unprotect the sheet, sellect the cells in the sheet which you would search, right click, format cells, then go to protection tab. in there make sure the hidden box is unchecked, after saving and protecting the sheet, it should work, it did for me
